Jerry,

Just wanted to check in with you, for UOV test and tune, are we allowed to have passengers during this event?

Thanks!

are passengers allowed during test and tune ??

Answer - No , passengers are not allowed in the race cars during test and tune . Race conditions prevail on the track during test and tune sessions .

During the UOV driving instructors accompany the students in their cars if the car has the proper safety equipment but this is an instructional procedure only . Pat Kneip

Thanks Pat, thats unfortunate, since were allowing instructors in the cars, why wouldn't we be able to have a passanger for this event? I'm sure its a safety issue, but if one had a full setup, seat, belts, suit etc. it would be nice to take out passengers.

The UOV is conducted under totally different conditions whereas the test and tune is conducted under an open race forum . Our insurance does not accommodate a " passenger ride along " element with regard to the " open practice / test and tune part of our event . Safety is our major concern with regard to all our events and the passenger element does not fit into that mode . I hope you understand our position and this will not discourage you from participating in our event .
Pat

Thanks for the clarification Pat, so if I signed up for the UOV instead of test & tune I can have a passenger?

Kevin , that would depend on who that passenger happens to be. If it were one of the instructors the answer would be yes - but if were anyone other than the instructor the answer is no . Sorry
Pat

Kevin , I failed to mention that the instructors riding in the cars are not passengers but actually observing and instructing the student with whom they are riding .

How about if Kevin is the "instructor" for the day and his dad signs on as the "student"?...with Kevin doing the driving. Seems like that would meet the insurance regs.

I have also been curious about passengers.
My question would be what if the passenger has a valid competition license, would that be allowed at events?....my brothers' race cars seem to be in the never ending "restoration" process....need to get them out on the track.

Hey Shawn!! Haven't seen you in a while, of course I haven't been out since July. Are you going to make Fontana?

I'm trying Kevin.
Have a few things left to finish up on the coupe (procrastinating on some body work).....looking forward to another go with you at Fontana. Also going to hit a few Laguna dates. See you this spring.

Great Minds Think A Like! Wink
The solution you came up for Kevin would work perfect- Plus Sunday he has a full track-
Unfortunately our Insurance does not allow for Passengers at our regular events- No matter what the qualification- So get those darn German cars back together pronto so we can see you down here Shawn Wink

talk to you soon-

Hey now...I resemble that remark, Shawn: "Never ending restoration"?! All I wanted to do was paint my engine bay and "freshen a few things up". Little did I know that the REST of the car is attached to the engine bay. I'll be out there this year, but my dilema is this: if I finish MY 2002 then I can't drive YOUR 2002 anymore...and yours has all the fun stuff on it.
