from what I know there is currently only one class for S2000. I believe it is for cars built between 1978 to 1984.

I have a a 1986 Swift Db2. I would love to run it every race with VARA, plus see if I can help to get a few guys to come over from SCCA to run their cars. With a little exposure we were able to raise the level of interest for Club Ford... So what might we do with S2000???

There are quite a few cars post 1984 out there that have become disenchanted with the pressure of racing SCCA and would probalby enjoy running a less stressful race weekend with VARA. Good friends, food and race cars.. Just like the old days ....

So does anyone have a opinion as to what years should be grouped together? When was the first Swift DB2 made? When was the last DB5 made? What about LOLA? what were the years where large leaps in technology were made for the class?

My opinion would be for one class S2000-1 top be from 1978 to 1984 and tehn maybe a S2000 1985 to 1990?

Any knowledge and help in this matter would be appreciated...lets help VARA to grow....

Thanks Vince vtj@mc-w.com

Vince-
Welcome to the forum-
You'll need to first contact Brad Willie- He is the S2000 Rep-
You'll find his contact info here http://www.vararacing.com/Overall1.html Look under class reps
He's a good guy and can present items to the BOD with you-
VARA has Opened up the Spec classes up to 1997 in some cases-
So it may be a viable option for you to pursue-

Good Luck

Vince

Brads e-mail is b.wille(at)dixonsports(dot)com

""""""from what I know there is currently only one class for S2000. I believe it is for cars built between 1978 to 1984. """""

2 classes.......... to 82 (CS2) and 82 - 12/86 (S2) Swift isn't listed ...you might get on to Brad.

Also give me a call or PM as I have adiitional re later cars. Your right in the later cars. S2 is kinda forgotten in our scheme of things ......it needs a shot in the arm...or wherever.

I think a second class would be fine. The S2 group is starting to grow with a number of cars running. We just don't seem to be running at the same time. However, I see no reason to not allow later model cars in as long as they run in a seperate group. My old Tiga will never keep up with a modern Swift. Even with a proper driver other than me Rolling Eyes

Just my .02c. Ya gets whats ya pay for...

Joel,

Do you mean separate "group" or separate "class" in the same group?

Just curious on your thoughts as they maybe similar to others' with "vintage" cars that don't mind newer cars joining VARA as long as "__________"

I have been speaking with quite a few people as of late who may want to bring their cars out to play. We currently have two S2 groups (S2 and CS2). CS2 is for out board suspended cars (generally 84 and older) and S2 is for cars who have inboard suspension on either or both ends (generally 85 and greater). Currently points and results are only posted as S2000 becuase we don't have alot of S2's at a weekend. If we get more cars we will start showing the split results. We are in the process of discussing opening up the years a bit for later S2's and to bring in the Swifts. If you have a comment please give me a call or email. My contact information is in the class rep section.
