Is the meeting at Ireland's shop, per usual?

OOPS.

I don't know how far in advance these things are planned.

Is there one planned for June, July or August?

Is posting an agenda prior to these meetings feasible?

Daryl , many of the issues brought to the BOD are being handled via the internet . Board meetings are kept to a minimum in this way . When issues are such that we need to have a meeting one is called , however , most of the day to day things are very mundane and only require a "for the record " vote . In these cases the matter is addressed and recorded as part of the minutes at the next BOD meeting . As for a meeting being held in June , July , or August - I rather imagine we will have one sometime after the Auto Club race in July . AS for the agenda , it is put together pretty much at the last minute and is considered simply as an outline of what subjects will be discussed . Having been to numerous meetings you know all the issues of concern are addressed whether they were on the agenda or not .

Pat,

Thanks for the response.

I asked if posting an agenda was feasible because, as you know, VARA's membership represents a pretty large geographic area. If someone knew something of major importance to them was going to be discussed they could make arrangements to attend or make sure the BOD members and/or their class reps were aware of their opinions. If they weren't concerned with any topics on the agenda they could stay home.

The fact that not many attend, allow these meetings to remain productive. I am sure the telephone and email meetings are even moreso. That is a good thing.

Perhaps it is best that we all keep our class representatives and BOD members aware of any concerns we have. I am sure they will all welcome "attaboys" as well.

Not sure what VARA's by-laws require....maybe these BOD meetings don't even have to be announced and/or open to the membership or agendas posted beyond the Annual meeting.

Hi Daryl , as you know , our Class Representatives are considered a critical part of the VARA management team and as such their input at our meetings is very valued - whether it be concerns , ideas for improvement or just commentary . As VARA is currently structured the Class Reps are the liasons between the general membership and our BOD. Our members are welcome to attend our meetings at all times . As you mentioned , geography doesn't always allow a member to attend , but their concerns , shared with the Class rep , will be heard .
Our policy regarding announcement of BOD meetings remains the same . They will be posted on the web site prior to the meeting . I failed to follow through on that announcement a couple of meetings ago and am determined not to let that happen again . The by - laws pertain to how a meeting is called but does not spell out requirements for announcing the BOD meetings to the general membership . My personal position is all BOD meetings should be announced publicly and invite all members who wish to attend to do so .
