Today is Monday - May 26th and I am thrilled to be up and walking around the lobby of the Courtyard Marriott at U.C. Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. I noticed the Computerroom for guests and decided that I shoud use this opportunity to thank you all for your prayers and messages of support. Especially you, Joe , with all your own problems. I truly am fortunate to have so many friends in Vintage Racing, even those with bullet holes.
I went to the operating room on Thursday, May 22nd to have a cancerous nerve cut out of the area near my right eye socket. The big unknown was my eyeball in danger of having to be removed also. Thank God! that I had one of the best specialty surgeons to perform the surgery and I am walking around today with both eyes fuctioning. I also had some very cute RN installing my catherter tube but that is another story for later.
I am still a little groggy from the anethesia and must get rest and take care of my eye. I will have the stiches removed ths coming Friday, May 30th and we will fly home on Moday June 2nd if all goes well. I know this is a rambling message but I did want to thank you all for your prayers which really helped.

I read my message of yesterday and obviously was still under anathesia from the five hours of surgery. It does take awhile to wear off. I said that I was walking around the Courtyard Marriott lobby? Actually, I was stumbling around the lobby in a fog with over 100 stitches in my face and one eyeball swollen shut. Not a very nice thing to look at. I sat down at the guest computer and wondered why it had 2 keyboards. I had to close my bad eye to see what I was typing.
Joe, I hope you are recovering OK. Your stay in the hospital was not one of your choice. I need to have new brake pads on Mina's STS before we make the return trip up here to Sacramento for followup appointments. Will call you when we get back next week. Also need some work on my Silverado before towing the Allard to Monterey.
I will not be able to tow the Allard to the Concours de Elegance at the Rose Bowl this coming Sunday, June 1st.
One more thing I want to clarify. The cute RN and the catheter tube? She was not installing but removing. I can remember her telling me to grit my........YYEEOOOWW....teeth. Still a little bit sore.
Seriously, I plan on thanking everyone personally when we are at the next VARA event with John. Thanks again for your prayers and well wishes. They are greatly appreciated. Now to just recover fully.
George

Hi everyone,
Mina and I thought we would be on our way home by now but my surgeon has detained us until this coming Tuesday, June 3rd.
He has removed about half of the stitches in my face but will not remove the rest until Monday. I didn't realize how extensive my cancer had spread but my doctor says it is all gone now but could come back sometime in the future. It required removal of some facial bone material but looks all most normal now.
Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts and prayers.
P.S. They tell me that there is a cute RN running around the hospital with a catherter tube looking for me to practice on.
