With VARA, I was under the impression that AS, BS, CS were sedan classes based off of displacement.

If AS is "American Sedan", what does BS and CS stand for?

As a BMW 3.0CS driver I have been running with the big bore run groups in most vintage clubs as of the last couple years. With a displacement of 3.0 to 3.5L for the big BMW coupes, AS seems like the most logical place to put us in VARA....after all BMW coupes are really just european camaro type cars with inline 6's)

I have always been interested in an ETCC run group. Since Camaro's, Cuda's, BMW CSLs and 2002, Alfa sedans, Ford Cortinas, Capris and Escorts all ran ETCC I think it would be a very competitive group.
I think it warrants more discussion but at the same time I think the goal is not to further fragement the current run groups....big bore is too small of a group to be further divided at this point.

Sedans (large and small displacement) are a fairly large group with in VARA now and a little focus on this group would be refreshing. (I think the Datsun Z vs Porsche threads have been well discussed over the past year or so). I am not into "spec" racing but some "sedan" events/challenges open to all displacements/makes would be nice.
Maybe just 2-3 "sedan" focused events per year, but not all.....I race vintage because I like the variety....and I still like to run with and chase down the occasional V8 two seater once in awhile!

Good thread.

Good to see you on the forum Shawn. I'm a CP guy, but have some interest in this thread. Yes, A/S can be viewed as either a Class modifier, like BS, CP, etc, or as a past class named American Sedan, I guess VARA needs to decide which one it wants to use. I agree its a shame to see the Big Bore class even more divided when it seems to be shrinking in attendance, so I hope more folks speak up on their preference. I'm up for an open class sedan/coupe race, but I think that's we use the enduros for.

At this point A Sedan is NOT American Sedan. It is for sedans with larger than 2.5 liter engines. We are discussing the creation of an "American Sedan" class and having a separate class for European cars. I think this will be a good thing. At this point I'm not sure how the Euro class or classes will be set up. Maybe it will be along the lines of the FIA. If so maybe the years could be extended into the late 70's with several classes for various FIA cars.

Any input is welcome.

What ever brings out more racers is a GOOD thing! I'd be all over a Motor Home class if it would draw entries! (BTW- that might be fun to watch, how about two divisions... one with trailers and one without;-)

I've got 2 "vintage" RV's with V8's:
A 1967 Cortez lightweight with 318 mopar and a 1972 Starcraft with 418 mopar.......remember with VARA, its gotta be "1972 or earlier"....any RV challengers!?!

Glad to see the sedan topics active.

Once upon a time ----We actually did have a late night motor home race at Willow Springs. With blenders running. I think Eric Allard won.
